To our I.C. Norcom Family,
As we move forward this school year I want to ensure you that safety, quality instruction and mental/emotional wellness for our students, teachers and staff remains our priority.
Each day our administrative and security teams, SRO, teachers and staff engage in planned security processes that enhance our security measures for safety. We also work closely with our law enforcement partners and believe when students and staff feel safe, teaching and learning increases.
Secondly, we are half way through our school year and moving closer to the end of our first semester and into our second semester. During this period, quality instruction and the focus of our students is even more important as the Virginia Standards of Learning assessment is scheduled for the months of January, March and May. Students must attend school regularly for optimum student achievement and to ensure positive assessment results that ultimately result in the Full Accreditation of our school.
Lastly, our Portsmouth school system has a free employee assistance program supporting mental and or emotional support if needed through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
